Membership in Pastel Artists of Oregon (PAO)

Membership in PAO has many advantages, whether you are just beginning to work with pastels, have been painting with them for a while, or you’ve already achieved Signature or Master Pastelist status.

Each year, PAO hosts either a Membership Online Exhibition (MOX) or Spirit of Pastel (SOP) International Open Juried Exhibition. PAO produces a quarterly newsletter, Pastel Palette, and sponsors many other activities over the year including Regional Pop-Up Shows, Paint-Where-You-Are Events, and the opportunity to post your pastel paintings on its website, Facebook, and Instagram pages.

Our annual membership year runs from January 1 to December 31, but you can join any time. The deadline to join or renew an existing membership is January 1st.   We will send you a reminder email each year.  Unfortunately, due to our budget planning cycle, we cannot prorate mid- or partial- year dues.

PAO is easy to join!  Just fill out an application and pay your annual dues of $40.00. Thanks to your membership dues, PAO can grow and offer more activities to its members. 

There are two options to complete your application and pay your dues:

A. Pay with PayPal—It is not necessary to submit the Membership Application when paying with PayPal.

OR

B. Print and Mail your application with a Check or Money Order.

Membership Benefits

  • Achieve Signature Membership Designation by having had 3 paintings (one per year) accepted by the juror into a PAO Spirit of Pastel SOP International Exhibition and maintaining paid membership without interruption.
  • Achieve Master Pastelist Membership Designation by receiving an award given by the judge at 3 different SOP International Juried PAO Exhibitions and maintaining paid membership without interruption.
  • Reduced entry fee for PAO’s Spirit of Pastel (SOP), International Open Juried Exhibition, with juried submissions eligible to win awards and credits toward Signature/Master Pastelist membership designations.
  • Opportunity to enter PAO Membership Online Exhibition (MOX) with chances to win cash awards and pastel product prizes.
  • Automatic membership in the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) with the ability to enter IAPS competitions and attend the biennial convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
  • Participate in member-only activities, events, exhibits, critique sessions, and other programs in Oregon.
  • Attend PAO workshops and demonstrations throughout the State.
  • Showcase your artwork on PAO’s Member Art Gallery web page.
  • Have access to the PAO Facebook page to post your art, events, and artist news.
  • Receive Pastel Palette, PAO’s newsletter, and notices of upcoming PAO events.
  • Attend online quarterly General Membership Meetings with demos by world-class pastel artists.
